Can't find Bluetooth Devices in Contrl Panel

P

Hi there,

Hope this is the right place for this queery. I have XP. I installed
Service Pack 2 about a month ago. I am just trying to link up my Nokia 6230
with the PC via Bluetooth - just to use to update Calender contacts & so on.

I have plugged the bluetooth device into the USB port. However, when I go
to the Control Panel and look for Bluetooth Devices order to it set up -
there is nothing there. By doing a search on Google I have found a few
other people complained that Bluetooth Devices is missing from the Control
Panel on their PC's after installing SP2 - but I have not seen any
solutions.

Can anyone help?

Many thanks,

Peter

This is the proceedure given in XP help for linking phone to pc with
bluetooth. My problem is that there is no "BLuetooth Devices" Folder in the
Control Panel. Just thought I woudl give the XP help file below in case I
didn't make it clear what my problem is in the previous post. How can I get
"Bluetooth Devices" into my Control Panel?. XP help given below.

To install a Bluetooth mobile phone

If your mobile phone can also communicate with your computer over a
Bluetooth wireless network to perform tasks such as contact synchronization
or file transfer, then use Bluetooth Devices in Control Panel to install
your mobile phone.

1.. Attach or turn on the Bluetooth radio adapter for your Windows XP
computer.
2.. Set up your mobile phone so that Windows XP can find it. Setting up
your phone includes:
a.. Turning it on
b.. Making it discoverable (or visible)
c.. Giving it a name (optional)
If you are not sure how to set up your phone to make it discoverable, read
the documentation for the phone.

3.. Open Bluetooth Devices in Control Panel.
4.. On the Devices tab, click Add.
5.. Follow the steps in the Add Bluetooth Device Wizard.
Notes

a.. To open Bluetooth Devices, click Start, click Control Panel, and then
double-click Bluetooth Devices.

I have the same problem and i already have called microsoft technical support
three time and each time they told me the same think, reinstall your sp2
package, do it in safe mode and the list goes on. Nothing worked i am pretty
fed up i mean after all this shouldn't be such a big deal for them and i hope
enough people will complain until they find a solution.
