Cant edit chart

PROBLEM REPORT

Here's what happens:
My powerpoint (2003) (XPPro) charts are no longer editable. I can make a
chart but as soon as I close the datasheet it won't come back. It happens
with all charts in all presentations. The error message is that the server
file can't be found. Charts seem to be converted to a picture. If I copy
the draph into Word, it is editable there.

Here's what I've already tried to solve the problem:
I have reinstalled Office, disabled Norton office scan, run registry
Mechanic, run detect and repair and downloaded all Office updates. The
charts do work on my other computer so the .ppt file doesn't seem to be
corrupted. I tried everything in the article written by echo. It seems to
lose the connection to Graph.exe.

Do you have any add-ins loaded on the PC? Have you installed Windows XP
Service Pack 2?

Did you try disabling NAV's Office Plug-in as explained at
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00236.htm ?

Note that disabling NAV doesn't disable the Office plug-in. So you'll need
to do this:

Use Windows Explorer to search for: officeav.dll
If you find it, click Start, click Run and type this, quote marks and all:

regsvr32 /u "\officeav.dll"

Maybe the problem. I did the search and it found officeav.dll - I then ran
regsvr32 /u "\officeav.dll" and it failed saying "module could not be found.
Thanks for all your help.

I'd probably contact Norton, then, and ask how to disable this thing.

Or check this KB article --
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;329820

Oh, you may need to put in the path for "\officeav.dll" below. So maybe
something like this, depending on the path to the DLL on your system --
regsvr32 /u "c:\program files\norton antivirus\officeav.dll"

I opened a new ppt file, made a chart, closed the datasheet and clicked and
it reopened. So far so good. I tried to save and got the message " There
is an active inserted or linked object that can't be saved automatically.
Please close the object first." I did a save as - it saved but now graph is
pic and won't open. I did the Norton workaround from the KB article as
well.
