Can't download exe

Ok, well its over a month later now.

The problem is still here
And now i have noticed that it even blocks .exe files that are copmpressed
inside a zip folder

So Vista does not allow ANY .exe Microsoft product to be installed via the
inter
Does not allow compressed files to be installed properly

HOW DO I GET A REFUND ON VISTA!!!!!

On the grounds no one can fix this problem and therefore if Vista cannot run
..exe's it is not fit for purpose.

Anyone got any ideas???????

Hi,
when I try to open an attatchment from my e-mail it asks whether I want to
save or open. No matter which one I choose it shows that it is downloading
then it all of a sudden disappears, same thing with trying to down load
updates for the computer. Can you tell me why this is and what I can do to
fix the problem. Thank you Kevin Phillips

Vista CAN run .exe files.

Vista CAN download .exe files.

Millions do just that.

You have a configuration problem somewhere in **YOUR** computer. That does
not make Vista "not fit for the purpose" - as you say.

I suggest you call Microsoft support. Yes, you may have to "pay" to have a
live tech on the phone to figure out where you have gone wrong.

Hiya folks,
didnt see he 2nd page of this post... lol

To richard Urban.. get off ya high horse and lear to ead.. theres loads of
us having these issues and mines an out of the box setup... so go away if you
have nothing usefull to add...

To everyone else, its a shame we still cant quite nail this, i must confess
i was already downloading the file, ignoring the warning and running it in
the background.

However I now hae a problem where if you extract a zip file nd it contains a
..exe, it actually pauses the extraction process and you end up with a .exe
with 0kb, and therefore you cant just run it, which is a bit of i nightmare??

Anyone got an clever ideas for this scenario??

Cheers all and

HAPPY NEW YR ( that even includes you richard)

I'm running Vista Home Premium. When I try to download an exe file, the
download is blocked and I get a message saying it's because of security
concerns. When I click for more info, it tells me I can allow the download
if I go to Microsoft Mail ( a program I don't use) and clear a check box. I
do this but I still can't make the downloads. Does anyone have any idea what
I can do to fix this problem?

I found a solution to this problem on another forum, which I won't
mention just in case there's some rule about linking competing forums &
get this deleted :zip:.

1) you are replying to a post from December of last year
2) the forum you are using leeches most of its posts from Usenet and
from Microsoft servers. Look how many posters are listed as "guest"
for a clue.

I"m late to the discussion but I have had a problem downloading files (ex.
download files from CNET) and I found that EI 7 Popup Blocker's setting was
on "High". After re-setting it to "Medium", my download problems were fixed.

Try turning off EI 7's Popup Block. If this works for you, turn it back on
and add the website to your list of unblocked sites.
