Can't disable BackWeb

Hi, A while back I was advised to disable BackWeb-
8876480.exe from my startup programs. When I tried to do
this, it repeated itself in the startups. I tried
disabling both, but when I restart my computer, the
program is rechecked again. What can I do to disable it?
TIA, Jerri

Find out what is using it and stop that.

Someone probably told you that backweb is spyware. It isn't. It's an
updating/communication tool that is used by some legitimate proccesses and
some spyware type things as well. You need to find what installed it and why
and make an informed decision based on that about what to do - Backweb is a
symptom; something installed it. You need to find the "something" and figure
out if you want *that* or not.

Thanks for the info. I don't know how to find out what is
using BackWeb. Is there systematic way? Jerri

If its the full back-web it should be fairly easy to call it up on screen
and see what "channels" it is subscribed to, this will be a clue as to what
its doing there.
