Can't delete Temporary Internet Files

David

My offline webpage synchornization started hanging and
would not update the files. I opened the Internet Options
window and tried to delete the temporary files. The
delete process hangs and I have to shut down IE. Explorer
shows some 6.5 MB of offline files. When I attempt to
delete individual files, both Explorer and IE hang. I was
successful in moving the temporary internet files folder,
but still have the same problem.

Could this be a registry problem? How do I delete the
temporary files so I can start with a clean slate?

Running IE 6.0 on Win XP Professional stand alone laptop.

Thanks. Setting up second Administrator account, logging
in to that account, then deleting the Temporary Internet
Files folder worked perfectly. Must have been a corrupted
index.dat file.

I have exactly the same problem, but with IE 6.0 on a Win
2000 Pro standalone laptop.

Can anybody suggest a fix?

By the way, I've checked for viruses, and disk-errors, but
have none of these problems. For my situation, I've
managed to narrow the problem down to a single JPG file in
the Temporary Internet Files folder that I can't delete,
copy, move, or open without hanging IE or Explorer.

Thanks in advance.
