Can't delete a mail

I have a mail message in my outbox that, try as I might, will not let me
delete it.

The message appears to have corrupted (error in text box "Message could not
be displayed ... Windows Mail encountered an unexpectedproblem ... check
memory...). Memory is fine!!

If I try to send mail I get a pop up saying "one or more messages in your
outbox do not have a valid account specified ... do you want to use default?"
.... but again, whatever I do, nothing changes. (I even tried changing the
"to" address in the email ... but it still corrupts and fails!

How can I get rid of this mail and allow Windows Mail to work normally
without repeated error messages?

Thanks,

Tim

That often means you need to download and install this fix, with Windows
Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. If you don't know whether to use the 32-bit version or
the 64-bit version, try the 32-bit version first. Certain common
antivirus programs, such as most of those from Norton or McAfee,
tend to cause such problems, although seldom immediately, so if you
have one of these programs, remember where to find the fix - you
are likely to need it again. A recent antivirus program from Trend
also causes assorted problems in Windows Mail.

Download and install this hotfix, with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. If you don't know whether you have a 32-bit version
of Vista or a 64-bit version, try the hotfix for the 32-bit version first.
Certain common antivirus programs, such as most of those from
Norton or McAfee, tend to cause stuck messages and other problems
in Windows Mail, although seldom immediately, so if you have such
a program, remember where to find the hotfix, and hope it will
install again if you need it again. A recent version of the Trend
antivirus program also causes assorted problems in Windows Mail.

This hotfix does not always delete such messages, but should at
least make it possible for you to do this.

In Windows Mail, undeletable messages are often due to interference from
an antivirus program. What if any antivirus programs do you have, and
have you ever had a Norton or McAfee antivirus program on that computer,
even one of the free trial versions that often come already installed on new
computers?

For a temporary fix, download and install this hotfix with Windows Mail
not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. If you don't know whether you have a 32-bit version
of Vista or a 64-bit version, try the hotfix for the 32-bit versions first.
The Vista SP1 update includes this hotfix and more, but takes longer
to install.

The hotfix or update may or may not delete the troublesome messages,
but at least should make it possible for you to delete them.
