Can't delete a file from the Program Files

Recently, I installed a program. Now, I want to try deleting some of the
files for that application from the 'Program Files' folder on the C: drive,
but I can't.

I keep getting a box with this title:
"Error Deleting File or Folder"

And the box has this message:
"Cannot delete [filename]: Access is denied."
"Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not
currently in use."

Is the reason I can't delete the file that it's locked or protected in some
way? I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me how to rectify this. Thank
you.

Are you asking the question because the message they gave you was unclear
(seems pretty straight-forward to me) or...

Essentially - I don't know why you are directly deleting the files in
Program Files... Why are you not using Control Panel --> Add or Remove
Programs to uninstall it or the applications own uninstall utility or
something else?

There are ways to delete in-use files (likely the case here) - but I think
you should provide more informatin because if someone here was to tell you
how to do it and this file is something more critical than you know - it
could leave you unable to do much of anything if deleted.

Its a little unusual to delete files within a program folder, it often
criples the application
Boot in safe mode & try there

The file isn't in use by any actively running program that I can see. I'm not
running any applications at all when I try to delete the file.

The reason I want to delete the file is that I want to copy it to another
folder. When I installed the program, the CD-ROM automatically installed the
files for it in the "Program Files" folder of the C: drive(the primary
drive). The C: drive is already pretty full, so I thought I'd copy the files
for the program to the E: drive and then delete the program from the C:
drive. But I'm not being allowed to delete it.

For information, the program I downloaded was called ArcSoft Connect and the
file I want to delete, but can't, is called ArcCon.dll.

Well if you want to do anything with the program copying its files to
another drive wont work, because on installation entries are made in the
registry and files are installed to various locations.

You have to uninstall the program either using Add/Remove dialogue or the
uninstaller in that program folder, clear your temp files & reboot, prior to
installing that program to your other drive - check carefully the
installation screen for the various options -

As it is if you have actually managed to delete/move any files in the
Arcsoft folder, you will need to reinstall it, then uninstall it using the
correct uninstall procedure.

BTW what size is your C drive & how much free space & what size is E?
