Can't clean previous adresses from adress pulldown menu

No matter how much I try to clear the history of previously visited pages and basically all other functions you can use to clear cache/history and so on, some links just wont go away

For example, I start typing an "a" in the adress bar and IE suggests links from my favourites list that starts with an a, or a file on my desktop that starts with an a. So far so good. But the problem is that it still suggests some links to pages that I havent visited in like two months and since then I have cleared cache and history many times. And I don't have links or files containing that name anywhere on my computer (that I can find at least
THEY JUST WON'T GO AWAY
Luckily, the links that appear are from well known, serious sites and I haven't got any viruses or spyware
But still it's really annoying

Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Or has anyone had the same problem?
