Can't choose homepage

I don't know if I have a virus or spyware or adware, but
recently my computer goes to a homepage that I didn't
choose. I keep selecting my yahoo on the tools menu or on
the my yahoo homepage but it immediately goes back to the
other page that has some xrated stuff unsuitable for my
kids. Also my computer has been slow or freezing up and
I'm getting an unusual number of popups that I can't
close unless I restart my computer. Many of these are to
install spyware detectors or to stop spyware.
