Homepage longtime loading

When I start my computer then click IE on the desktop, it takes my
homepage a longtime to load, and I'm using Google or my homepage, so
there I don't think it has much data to load. Wat could be the reason
for this for I defragmented my computer yesterday and that didn't seem
to help. My system is-
Windows XP Pro.
Service Pack 3
Processor 1.50 GHz
RAM 1.00 GB

Thank you,James

The First Question Of Troubleshooting: If the problem is new, what changed
between the time things worked and the time they didn't?

The Second Question of Windows Troubleshooting: what is the malware/virus
status of the machine? If you think it is clean, what programs (and
versions) did you use to determine this?

Be sure the computer is clean:

If the computer is clean, try running IE in no-add-ons mode. If that fixes
things, one of your add-ons is the problem child. Find out which one by
enabling them one at a time, testing after each change.

MS webpage explaining add-ons: http://tinyurl.com/2tro8f

Right-click on the blue IE desktop icon and select Start without Add-ons; or

Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No
add-ons).

If you had to choose the slowest possible browser for your system, IE
would be it. If it is just slow and not broken, try a browser that is
more efficient.

Firefox and Google Chrome are my favorites this week - free, fast(er),
and more configurable in some areas. There are other browsers and
folks have their favorites.

IE is required for some hings like Windows Update.
