Can't change home page on IE

I have a XP PC and I set the home page for IE long ago. Now I want to
change it, but when I do, it won't take the change. I restart IE, and
the page is set to what it was, it just won't accept it. I've cleared
the cache and cookies, etc, scanned for adware and spyware and viruses,
but nothing will fix it. What can I do? Should I just uninstall and
reinstall IE?

Well I may be able to help, but I need some specific information. What
version of Internet Explorer are you using? Is your computer free of viruses,
adware, spyware and malware? And how have you attempted to change your home
page? Please provide this information and I'll see what I can do
Best Regards,
Kaja

My problem is similar: When I go on IE6 or 7, it immediately loads a
specific home page I set a year ago. Then I click on Favorites to access
another website, and it goes to the home page. Nothing can change the home
page. My ISP is trying to figure the problem out,

Windows version (I assume WinXP SP2)?

Do you have an anti-virus application installed?

Yes

Yes

I endedup deleting every single refernce to it in the registry, and
that fixed it. I wonder why I had to do that manully though. I though
changing it in IE would change it in the registry by itself, isn't that
what windows is supposed to do? I know that -sometimes- it can do it by
itself.

I changed the home page via Tools, Internet Options, General. I had the
problem in IE 6 and now in IE 7. I'm using Norton AV 2007; ran a complete
system scan and found only two unrelated problems, which were corrected. I
believe the system is clear of malware, viruses, etc. I also reset IE to the
defaults to no avail.

Any suggestions or a solution would be great.

Disable NAV's Home Page Protection > Change your home page > Enable NAV's
Home Page Protection (or better yet, uninstall the POS and get another,
less-intrusive anti-virus application, or at least one you understand).
