Can't change Access 97 field

I have a field value in an Access 97 database row that cannot be changed,
and it's screwing up a program that manipulates this particular field. All
other records in the database are fine, it's just this one record and only
the one field in the record. When I try to change the value from a 2 to a 1
for example, I get a message that says "Reserved Error -1601; there is no
message for this error".


Can anyone tell me how to fix this? I'm thinking maybe doing a repair will
fix it.

I exported all the data in this table to another table in the database and
this fixed my problem. Don't know how the field got corrupted, or if there
was a better way to "repair" the field.
