my Pc : Intel pentium D 3.4GHz
Asus PW5DH duluxe
1.5GB DDRAM2
dual graphic asus 7600GT
200GB hard drive
I've just bought the windows vista premium edition last week. I tried to use
the clean windows vista but when I boot the DVD , after seeing the line
"loading ....... files". the screen windows came dark , nothing happenned
after that. I tried so many times and also using the upgrade but it doesn't
work when the computer reboot and the screen came dark again.
Then I tried to install the DVD in my friend's PC which has the same
mainboard with me , and it worked, so do u think "is it because of my faulty
main board?" or some mistake inside my PC system.
Could u help me plz 'cuz I'm getting crazy everyday when I see the VISTA DVD
but I can not use it

How about a few more clues:

1. Does the hard drive indicator light blink or stay on or go off when the
screen goes dark?

2. Is the computer accessing the DVD while the screen is dark ?

3. How much free space is available on your hard drive?

4. Is you hard drive partitioned? If so, how many other drive letters do
you have?

5. Did you defrag the hard drive before doing the clean install?

6. Did you run the Vista advisor to see if there were any hardware
incompatibilities? (if you were doing an upgrade you would also be advised
of what programs may have to be uninstalled first).

7. Is the hard drive a SATA or PATA type drive ?

8. Unplug and USB/FireWire/LPT connections - physically disconnect the
cables and turn the devices off in the BIOS.

9. What other cards or adapters do you have on the system (i.e., wireless
mouse and keyboard, how many NIC's, TV/Video card, etc.)

10. Does the screen stay dark (black) or is it blue with a quick message
flashes that you can't read ?

11. How long does it stay dark? Could be it's trying to configure some
device driver or doing a discovery routine and you're not waiting long
enough.

12. Try removing the second graphics card and see what happens.

There's more but try the above for starters,

If it's the upgrade version, you must start it from within Windows XP. Don't
boot to the dvd. You can still do a clean install, but Vista doesn't check
for eligibility, so you must boot to Win XP first. MS directions that include
why the install doesn't work here:

You don't do a defrag when you are doing a clean install! It gets formatted,
REMEMBER
The bloke is trying to get help, not crap, from you
