I made an XP slipstream cd with SP2 ....I got the instructions from
this site...
http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sp2_slipstream.asp

I am needing it to install XP on my new hard drive I just got to
replace the current one I am using....

The instructions said to use any copy of XP and I used my original XP
upgrade cd,,,I followed the instructions and the cd can only be read
in windows and not from booting up...I need it to run when boot up to
install it on my new hard drive...can anyone help me with this? I
really need to figure out how to get this on my new drive...

Check your CMOS settings and make sure the CD drive is set to be bootable?
When the machine starts, you should get a message to press any key to boot
from the CD if it's set correctly. If you don't press a key, it boots
normally.

I had it set to boot from cd and says can't boot from cd...I didn't
set that in BIOS, I just pressed F9 and selected what drive to boot
from...maybe it might work if I set the BIOS to boot from cd?? Gonna
try that and pray it works...

After making the ISO file from my slipstreamed cd and made a new cd,
I was able to boot from the cd...so I'm going to backup everything to
dvds and then put in the new drive and go from there...this was the
1st time using my new Samsung SH-S182M dvd burner...burned the image
to a cdr and it only took a little over 5 mins...that was
sweet...thanks for the help
