Can't add workstation to domain

Julie

We have a small network of 8 computers. I am upgrading
all the workstations to W2k from W98SE. Im finished with
6 computers, when I got to the 7th it told me "The
following error occurred attempting to join the domain -
Access is denied"
When I search support it tells me to download the latest
service pack. I did this but its still happening.

Manually configure the network settings. Give it a valid IP# & Mask for your
network. Give it a DNS Server IP# in the network settings that point to your
DC that runs the AD/DNS. If you have a WINS Server then include it too. If
your network requires a Default Gateway then include it as well.

Now try to join the Domain. Be careful not to miskey or mispell the
credentials. I've seen bad keyboards with "dead" keys cause letters to get
left out and causing a misspelling too,....not to mention having the CAPs
Lock key turned on.

Once you click "OK",...wait,...I have seen it take several minutes on a bad
day sometimes. Don't interupt it,..wait till it either "welcomes" you to the
domain or outright fails with an error message.

Once you succeed, then you can go back and set all the network settings to
automatic if that is what you were originally wanting.
