Can't add Modifications to GPO Software

M

mpirotte

I can't add an .mst or patch file to the modifications tab on a software
installation. The Add button is greyed out. I am trying to deploy
Office XP in a new windows 2003 environment with xp pro clients. I
have this situation at two clients and I must just be missing
something. Any Ideas

Thanks
Mike

When you right-click in the group policy object editor to select New->Package,
make sure the radio-button you select for deployment method is "Advanced" and
not Published or Assigned. If you select the Published or Assigned radio
buttons, then you won't be able to provide modifications.

Additionally, transforms (MSTs) can only be added when the package is first
assigned or published.

Note that you can't deploy a patch (MSP) file nor add it as a modification. You
must patch the administrative installation point for the product and then
perform a redeploy to get the client machines to be updated.

Hope this helps,
