Can't access unsecure sites

M

MDK

I had a few computer problems and I had to re-install IE6.
Now I can only access secure sites that start with https.
Any other sites I get the message "Page cannot be found".

I installed SP1. This didn't help. If I use Netscape I
can open any page.

Any suggestions?

I have the same problem. Have you been able to resolve yours yet? Thanks/

I'm having the same problem. I've followed all the suggestions on MS. I've
deleted temporary files, checked advanced settings, etc., verified date and
time settings, am using 128 bit encryption, used the system file checker,
verified cryptographic services are started, register .dll files, created a
new profile, tried reinstalled I.E. 6.0. Has anyone found a solution for
this? What else can it be?

I finally figured out the problem and fixed it. Still not sure why it
happened, but the solution is to click on Tools, Internet Options, and
select Connections. Then highlight the connection you are using and select
Settings. Then make sure that the boxes are all unchecked. For some reason
mine had been looking for a proxy server.

Hope this is helpful.

I followed your advice but still no luck. My computer was
also looking for a proxy server so I was hopeful it would
work for me too. Any additional suggestions would be
appreciated.
