Can't access Internet nor Windows Mail

Have a new Toshiba notebook with Vista Premium OS. I have been accessing 'net
and my e-mail fine until a couple of days ago. Things stopped both for
wireless access as well as broadband cable.

Trying to diagnose the problem and get a message "media disconnected". Not
sure how to reconnect. Also, did an ipconfig/release and renew. For the
release, I got a message "the requested operation requires elevation". This
is a single computer which I use at home - no password access nor
multi-users. Hence, I would be the administrator.

Got another message "no operation can be performed on local area connection
while it has its media disconnected".

I find that my Skype is OK. Boy, I'm at a loss here. At one point it said
"IP address was not set properly". Sure frustrating. Any help would be most
appreciated. I'm sure at the edge of my knowledge on this one.

Thanks. Norm.

Have you tried using System Restore to take you back to a time before this
began?
