CanoScan FB 620U

Hi guys,

I've gotten this scanner off of my father, since it
didn't seem to work with his computer. I'm running
Windows XP and the scanner is a CanoScan FB 620U. I've
downloaded the drivers (that are supposedly for WinXP),
I've opened the drivers, and I've tried to install said
drivers (I got some off of Driverguide.com and off the
Canon website). When I get to the install screen it says
that the drive is not "signed" and when i continue anyway
it does not install properly.
Neither place offers Windows compatible Driver signed
downloads. Does anyone know of where to get a driver
download that is compatible with Windows XP? Both my
father and I have tried to get this running and I'd
really like to get it running.

Thanks for reading,

Megan

If Canon has the drivers listed under Windows XP, install them and ignore
warnings about them not being signed. Remove the drivers, reboot, and
install them in safe mode, by pressing F8 while booting.

Completely remove what ever traces of your previous install
attempts, install the software then connect the scanner and
it should detect the installed drivers.

I pushed F8 and it didn't work. A blue screen with three
options came up: 1 floppy disk, MB-something, and SM-
something. I tried all of those and none of them put me
into safe mode. I'm also immediately booting into XP and
I don't have a choice for which OS to use like I've seen
on my dad's computer. Help please?!!

I'm not sure how to remove the drivers. I've deleted
them off the hard drive, but I don't think that will do
it. A friend of mine got it to the point where it was
constantly beeping at me saying that I've got new
hardware connected then its been disconnected. *sigh* If
I can't get this to work at all I'm sure I can live
without it. I can't even get hte damn scanner to do
anything either (it should at least light up when I open
the top right?). Scanner's not necessary, but I was
trying to prove my dad wrong. I can always ask one of my
teachers in the Computer Science department too.
