Hi All,
I have a CanonScan D1250U2F and had trouble using it again after
upgrading to XP (SP2 (yes the beta version)). (I had used it for
windows 2000 without problems). Just a moment ago I got it to work
again. Here the details:
My problem was that it wasn't even detected as new hardware any more
by XP.
So I tried to add it by: Start|Settings|Scanners & Camera's|Add device
....and then going to the ScanGear driver directory (selecting the
*.INF file) - it didn't list any scanners - so that didn't work
either.
Finally I thought that maybe the scanner had broke, so I tested it on
a friends computer (which only has USB1.1 not USB2) - to see if it got
recognized there. And wonder wonder: it was recognized as 'New
Hardware'.
(for this I had to unplug the scanner and take it somewhere else)
When I connected it back to my computer again and booted, suddenly it
was detected again...
So I think the scanner has some internal state that gets resetted
either if:
-the power gets disconnected for a while
-it's connected to a USB1.1 port
The first seems the most logical to me (and I just read that someone
else also got it to be detected again after power unplugging)... so if
your scanner is not detected anymore:
-Uninstall all drivers (use the uninstall software from the Canon
site)
-Uninstall the Toolbox software
-Disconnect the power and USB cable
-Boot computer at least once with scanner - shutdown again
-Connect scanner again (power and USB)
-The scanner is detected again (hopefully)
I hope you will have some joy or relief from this post - I would have,
if I still had the problem I just solved =]
Do post replies if this solution solved your problem, so others can
verify it works (or not).
