Canon Multipass F80 problems

When the USB printer cable (F80 printer) is connected to
the hard drive, my computer will not start until I unplug
the cable. Is this a Canon or XP incompatibility problem?
Canon tech support could not assist; thanks to anyone
with a solution!

Plug the usb into another port and see if the computer
will restart. If it does it is a computer problem. If it
doesn't plug the usb into another computer. That rules out
cable and F80. If that computer starts ok then again back
to your computer problem.
If it is your computer then check with who made it. Rarely
is a problem like this what you are connecting but rather
some problem on the computer side. If something else is in
another usb port on the computer see if it happens with
nothing but F80 plugged in. Try all usb ports. One may
work and another not. Sorry I can't tell you all the
reasons it could be.
Hoped this helpped a little.
