Canon MP360 constant head cleaning

Hi
Why do Canon SmartBase MP360 printers go through
the head cleaning cycle so often?
I switch on and it cycles, then just before it prints, it cycles
again, then sometimes when I switch off it cycles again, Clicking, whirring,
buzzing all the time, its doing my head in. I didn't mind at first as ink
carts
are only £1 each on ebay, but my patience is wearing thin.
Is there a fix for this, firmware or software, or is it just my printer?
I used to have a Lexmark, it was a cheap and nasty printer but had
a good switch on/ready/print time, it didn't even need an on/off switch.
Is there a particular brand of printer which has a good on/print/off time?

Many thanks
Mark

Why do you keep turning it on and off? I leave my Canon on 24/7 and
it is always ready to go. Modern printers consume very little power
in standby. Just leave it on.
