Cannpot Capture Live Video

I've got an HP Pavillion zd8000 laptop. It came pre-installed with
XP Media Center Edition. I can use Media Center to watch and record
live video from the tuners with no problem. However, Movie Maker
always says that the video devices are in use by another application.

Is there any way to get Movie Maker and Media Center to play nice or
shoud I just delete Movie Maker, since it is useless to me unless I
can record live video?

Windows Version:

Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519 : Service Pack 2)

Media Center Version:

Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
Version 5.1.2700.2230 build by:

Movie Maker Version 2.1.4026.0

Use the MCE application to record to your hard drive.

That works just fine, but it is difficult to turn that
around and burn it onto a DVD. I want to capture my
family's home movies from video tape and convert them
to DVD. If MCE recorded to a more widespread and/or
a standard format, that'd be fine, but Movie Maker
doesn't seem to want to import the capture files that
MCE creates.

Then you can convert them to AVI so WMM will import them.

Use a third party software to edit and create the DVD like Sonic, Nero
Vision, Roxio, WinDVD Creator, PowerDirector.

Or go to www.thegreenbutton.com and pick up the converter which will make
the files into WMV files.

DVR-MS files ( MCE Recorded TV files)
==================================
I don't have any luck using those programs from the GreenButton to
convert DVR-MS files. After several days trial, the only programs
that I found Drag/Drop/Work on my computer are:

* MyDVD Delux 6: Drop the file into the time line then
File->convert ( individually)

* TMPGEnc Xpress 3.x -> Need to use Source Wizard to work

Adobe Encore seems also to take in DVR-MSs but no direct conversion.

Nero Burning ROM SE(6.6) will take/burn DVR-MS files into DVD, bur for
files larger than 2GB a msg would apprear advising that it would
have to be done under UDF and not ISO etc.

Not working with DVR-MSs:
Ulead Movie Factory 4 and Video Studio 7.
Nero Express 6.6
