cannot write to cd-r using windows xp

Hi,

Recently, I have encountered a problem with my cd writer, I cannot
write to cd-r using any of the cd writting software (includes nero or
xp wizard), however, I can write to dvd.

I get the usuall message:

"Cannot complete the CD Writing Wizard
There was an error in the writing process. The disc you have
attempted to write may no longer be usable."

The discs I use are brand new, I dont know if its a machine problem, or
just not recognising the cd's.

Anybody have any idea?

** I did use services /s command to check the CD buring process **

Hi,

Try a CD lens cleaner disk, it may be clogged with dust/debris.

Thanks for the tip, altough, if its clogged with debris - it will
affect the DVD writting as well?

Hi,

Not yet, a DVD uses a narrower beam, and it may not be affected - yet.
