Is it possible to write files to a partially full CD?

I have two CD writing programs, Nero and Image Burn, but I use ImgBurn
almost all the time.

When I have a CD I've put some files on, and I want to put on more, it
says "CD is not empty" or something, and I can't use that CD.

Is it possible to write files to a partially full CD?

Do I need a different program?

Thanks

You can only do that if the CD is RW. If it's R, you only get one chance.

m&m,

If erase files from CD now empty. You write new files to CD.

If the session is closed you can do no more writing.
If the session was left open, you can continue to write.

ImgBurn does not allow multi-session disc writing. All discs burned
with ImgBurn are single session, and are closed when burned.

Nero allows you to create both multi-session and single session discs,
you choose in the options when you create the disc compilation.

Not with ImgBurn, it's not. ImgBurn does not allow multi-session (open)
discs. The OP stated he is using ImgBurn.

I have stopped using Nero years back after I found Deepburner Free to
be compact, straightforward and very efficient. It does mltisession,
iso and all.

Well, thank you both. When I just went to deepburner.com, I think
what I dl'd was only free for 30 days. Haven't used it yet.

But now it seems that there is a totally free version. After all,
it's called DeepBurner Free! (hmm. This file has the same name as the
one I dl'd the last time, but that time I thought it was a trial
version.)

I also found the multi-session setting in Nero. It wasn't easy, but
maybe if I had actually been burning something, I would have found it
without looking. It was set for multi, but easily changed. Thanks,
Glee.

There are a lot of options for ImgBurn, but there is no Help file with
an alphabetic or logical index, only "guides". I found the one for
options, and all it told me was that the two I thought might work
wouldn't. I haven't read about the others, but I don't think any of
them are related to multi-session, so it's very good to have these two
programs. Blank CD's are cheap, but it's not just money. I'd rather
have everything on one CD than have to carry several and look though
each of them when I need something.

So thanks again.

I think ImgBurn will do most of the things that DeepBurner Free won't
do, especially if you count writing an .iso file and then burning it
as a disk to disk copy! He says he's not trying to reinvent the
wheel. ImgBurn makes DVD's I think and maybe if I had my DVD burner
installed, Nero too would have that as an option.

It does. You can save a CD as an ISO, you can burn an ISO to a CD, you
can also burn a DVD

And Deepburner free is absolutely free for you to use without any
reservations.
