Small 10 client w2k Server DC network. Clents 5 xp /1 me/4 w98se. Wins, AD,
netbios over tcp,etc on server. I reformatted a w98 client(had always
validatesd fine) (GM wanted new install) Used the same esername and password
to access the network. I get the "no DC is available to validate your
password, etc message. I click OK. Everything is fine, can browse the
network, gte lan mail(outlook 97-microsoft mail) connect to internet thru
SMC router (cable). Just no validation. I have tried replacing the tcp
stack, nic, etc. This is the GM's PC and is a real problem. I was thinking
of deleting the user in AD and recreating it(new SID might help) . Do not
know what else to do. I am new , as you can tell. Any help appreciated?

I have experienced the same problem. What I found to
solve the issue was I had to disconnect from the DOMAIN.
I.E. change to a workgroup... Once I did this, I then
went to the server and removed the computer from USERS and
COMPUTERS. Now restart the Win98 machine and attempt to
rejoin the Domain. When it asks for your authority to
join use your Administrator Username and password for the
DOMAIN CONTROLLER... This should cause the DC to build a
new entry for the COMPUTER thus solving the issue for good.

Hope it works, let me know....
