cannot update service pack 1

i cannot download service pack 1 from windows update...
download was complete.... but it said invalid product key, contact your system administrator
report for piracy blah blah...
so what do i do next
i want to download because the java applet does not run, to download it from sun microsystems
u need to have installed service pack 1.
please help

you are running a pirated version of XP. SP1 will not install to these
"well known" illegal versions.

Are you trying to install Service Pack 1a and getting the
following:

The Product Key Used to Install Windows Is Invalid

You need to purchase and use a _legitimate_ full retail copy of
WinXP Pro to perform a repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade) installation,
using the new CD and Product Key.

Remember, you should also report whomever sold you the pirated
software to the pertinent law enforcement agencies; you've been
