Cannot stop setup

is there any way to stop setup from running on windows xp home edition when
it stops because there is an error message that says the CD key is not valid.
i was just trying to repair my windows xp and now the setup will not finish
and i cannot get my computer to go beyond installying device drivers.

check the manufacturers site to ensure you can install it for starters, is it
a format and clean install?

the windows xp home edition was already installed on my computer and became
unstalbe due to direct cd. i tried to repair the installation and that is
when i got in this setup mode and cannot get out. is there some dos command
i could use to stop the setup. i got 2 new product id from microsoft but
they do not work either. this computer had several viruses that i removed.
could that have caused the problem. thanks for your help
