Cannot Send EMail

G

Geri

Hello, I can send and receive email from Charter Communcations web site. I
can receive email with Vista's Windows Mail. I cannot receive any emails.
This is an unusual occurence as I have been using Windows Mail for a year
now. Charter Comm. doesn't support Windows Mail and we have tried changing
the outgoing mail server address. Nothing is working. The outgoing port is
25 for email. Any suggestions.

Do you get an error message when you try to send? If so,
right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.

Your question is confusing... you say you can and you can't? Which is
it? Call your ISP and get your correct POP and SMTP settings, that's
all you need to do.

Geri is saying that Geri can send and receive from the web site. Geri says
that Geri can receive email with Windows Mail. Since "cannot receive"
follows the statement about Windows Mail, I think we can assume that it is
in the context of Windows Mail. It is not as clear as it could be, but that
certainly is the most likely interpretation at least. I hope Geri confirms
that. I also hope that Geri takes Gary's advice to provide the entire error
message.

Have you ever been able to send mail from this account?
Who is your ISP?

Also try using Port 587 instead of 25, use SSL with Port 587.

Your error message is not the same as the others.
I see that Euroguns.co.uk is not an ISP, but is a web-hosted vanity domain.
Do you also have a mail account through your ISP or other (non web-hosted)
mail account, and if so, is the other account working normally?

Which antivirus are you running? Some of them cause problems with
Windows Mail over time.
