Cannot reopen outlook without restarting computer

After opening and closing outlook, I cannot get outlook to reopen without
restarting my computer. I have tried different settings, but have not been
able to resolve this issue. I currently have outlook as the primary email
program that is in communication with msn and comcast email servers.

I have precisely the same problem, and I've tried some of the fixes suggested
in previous posts (disabling exchange extension add ins) which did not work.
I suspect it's somehow related to McAfee, but disabling all of the McAfee
services does not help either. please let me know if you find an answer!

This is often the case when you have something keeping Outlook open when you
think ypu've closed it. If after closing Outlook you still see one or more
processes named OUTLOOK.EXE in Task Manager's Processes list, that's what's
happening. You can stop them manually and you won't have to reboot, but you
should find out what's interfering with Outlook closing. See the following
for ideas:

I have found a more efficient way to reset outlook when it won't reopen.
Instead of rebooting, I log-off from windows and then log-in. This is the
only way I can reopen outlook.
