cannot read Bluescreen info

Georg Hickel

Hi,
i hope this is the right group for my question.

Hardware / Software: NEC Notebook with XP home edition (no servicepack
2 yet, but all windows update patches installed)

Problem: Sometimes i get a bluescreen but the is no time to read the
info cause the notebook screen gets black at once. There is no
automatic reboot. But i do not get any memory dump to analyze my
problem.

All options to get a memorydump are enabled, automatic reboot is
disabled, there is no old dump that blocks the writing of new dump
information.

What is wrong or what can i do to analyze the cause of the bluescreen.

Thanks in advance

Hi George

Have a look in the Event Viewer to see if any entries there coincide with
the blue screens.

Hallo Will,
i had a look and i dont see any entries which give me a hint. Can Dr.
Watson give some hint?. I just need an idea what may be the cause of
the bluescreen so i may look for some fix.

Hi Georg

There's no .DMP files in the Windows\minidump or the Documents and
Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson folders? The Dr.
Watson log file may help.
