cannot print text

Hello,
Using Windows XP Home SP2 all updates. Plenty of space and memory.
Have problem with text type documents, .doc, .rtf and .txt. Noticed this
day, Sept.23,2006.
No application including the printer with the exception of word processors
see the documents.
Can be opened in any processor ie: notepad, wordpad and O.O. writer.
When sent to the printer it prints no text, does not create any error.
Produces a blank page unless there are graphic files.
It will print the graphic but not the text.
Outlook Express E-mail will only print URL, no text.
When tried to open in IrfanView received following: Can't read file header -
Unknown file format.
Can copy and paste into IrfanView and then print.
Web pages can be printed but no text , photos and Adobe Acrobat
files can be printed.
No settings have been changed.
Reinstalled the printer. Installed latest update from HP. HP deskjet 3650.
Removed latest Microsoft security updates.
Reverted drive using GoBack, back two days.
Would appreciate assistance.
Thank You.
take care

Hello,
Found answer.
Black ink cart (70% full) not responding in a proper manner. Had run head
cleaner, twice, without problem. On the off chance I changed the cart and text
files printed. I am assuming a communication problem exists between the cart
and the printer software.
take care.
