Use the mail applet in the control panel to configure an Outlook profile.
The bare minimum needed to get Outlook started is a personal folders (pst)
file.

thank you neo. i *think* i got the profile done. now it will not open because
"cannot open default e-mail folders. the information store could not be
opened."

how do i start a personal folder? and what is an information store?

thank you very much!

Information store = the thing that stores email, contacts, calendar, .etc
items. This could either be your Exchange mailbox or a personal folders
file.

Mail applet is where you do everything. Best bet would be to start the mail
applet, then select show profiles button. From there you can add a new
profile and then delete whatever is existing.

You create one right in that same Mail applet, using the Data Files button.

first, thank you both for helping me.

i fiddled around in the mail setup, made some changes, and here is the new
error message.

"Cannot start Microsoft office outlook. Cannot open the outlook window. The
set of folders cannot be opened. The information store could not be opened. "

hmm... i must be really messing up somewhere. i am now completely stumped.
what to do now?

thank you,
momkoz

C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033\
and run MLCFG32.CPL

This will activate the mail config. Then remove the existing profile and create a new one.
