cannot open explorer... but says it is running in task manag

when I right click start.. to open the explorer.
all i get is long hour glass then nothing

with this when i right click in the desktop no menu comes up

Hi,

Run this combo:

Run Ad-Aware SE, Spybot and HijackThis:

Note: Update the first two programs, once installed, before running.

Also, not being able to right click on the desktop, can be due to a bogus
security message on your desktop. If this is the case: Go to Start/Control
Panel/Display/Desktop/Customize Desktop/Web and uncheck Security.

If this isn't the case:

Having Spysweeper installed can cause this. Either way, see:

Also: can be due to updates 817287 and/or 821557

In addition, run this edit. No harm will be done.

Enable or Disable the Right Click Context Menu (Line 56)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
