Cannot Log Into Secure Sites

T

Tammi

I suddenly am unable to log into any secure site (i.e., bank accounts,
portfolios, medical records, hotmail). When I enter my userid and password,
the page appears to load and then stalls.
This is what I've done so far:

Verified the problem is unique to my PC. I can access my accounts from
another PC.
Deleted cache (cookies and Temp files).
Ran MS Antispyware, Adaware, Ewido and McAfee ( 2 minor problems were
detected and fixed).
In Internet Properites>Security,
verified security level was medium,
Advanced verified there is a check before Publisher's Certification
Revocation, Use SSL2.0 and SSL 3.0.
Programs> used the Reset Web settings.
Temporarily disabled Firewalls (although I've had no prior problems)
Restored my PC to a date prior to the problem.
Checked for any MS updates and my PC is current.
I made no software changes and added no programs prior to this problem.

I have no problem accessing any website; I just cannot log in to accounts. I
tried re-installing IE6 in case it was corrupted but I receive a message
that it's already installed.

Please help!

There are quite a few causes of this problem. Try emptying internet caches,
control panel, internet options, delete files and make sure delete all
ofline content is checked. Click security tab and set internet security to
default. Click content tab and clear SSL state. Check if you now have
access.

If not click start, run type "sfc /scannow" no quotes. That should fix the
problem if not reinstall IE.

MSMVP Ramesh has a vvery good tool to fix IE.
