Cannot install SP2

I was installing backup applications on a laptop with XP Home edition and
downloaded SP2. This computer has SP1 and needed SP2 for some applications.
I tried to install the downloaded SP2 and would not install. I think it said
something like the versiion on the pc is older and it is. I thought it
would just overlay SP1.

What do I have to do to get SP2 installed.

Where did you go to download svc pk2?
as that error makes no sense, of course the svc pk1 would be older.
and yes svc pk2 does overlay svc pk 1.
