Cannot install software

I just inherited a W2K server that will not allow me to install any software.
This is occuring even when logged on with Administrator account. Is there a
policy setting that controls software installation on the local machine?
Thx,
Michael

Yes, the software installation policy.

I don't think there's a policy in place that would prevent you from
installing software - but you can run gpresult.exe from the command line
to see what policies are in place.

Is there an error message you get, when trying to install the software?

cheers,

There is no error message. It just does not complete the install. I looked
at running processes and it just says it is running. I thought it might be
viral but the antivirus gave me a clean scan.

Thanks ;)
As soon as I get my member site account to work, I'll be introducing
myself to the list and the others. But it seems to not work right now.
Patience is what it takes right now ;)

Have you already run gpresult.exe? The installation starts and what
happens next? It just closes all windows or what? Does the client's
eventlog show any entries associated with that?

cheers,

Florian
