cannot install lexmark X5150 Printer

I have tried with little sucess to install my new X5150 Printer all in one printer. I am running Windows XP Home. when I run the installation software it keeps telling me that the printer is not connected. I have tried the USB lead with other devices and they work satisfactorily. I have also downloaded drivers from the Lexmark website, again i keep getting the same error messages

Has anybody got any suggestions that may helkp me out as i am getting very frustrated

Had similiar problem with the new Epson CX5400 printer combo I bought my son for Christmas. I finally had to uninstall Service Pack 1 and reload WinXP Home to correct the USB driver problem. I'm not saying you should do the same thing I did. just giving you something to think about. Also.. in spite of what some of the MVPs think, there ARE bugs in the WinXP Service Pack 1
