Cannot download any updates!

Everytime I try to download updates from the Windows
Update site, the download box comes up after I agree to
accept the terms but nothing downloads. It always remains
at "Preparing to download...". "Download progress" does
not move. What's wrong? Why is it doing this? It used to
work a couple months ago.

My updates no longer work, and other downloads hang in
Internet Explorer when I do 'Save target as...' by right
clicking on the mouse (works fine in Netscape!).

It started happening after I installed Windows 2000
Service Pack 4.
