cannot copy exported messages folder

O

Oscarcat

I'm trying to back up Windows Mail messages and contacts on a Vista machine.
I've used the export function but when I try and copy the folder wit the
messages in to a memory stick or external drive a message comes up:
"Property Loss
Are you sure you want to copy this file without its properties. The file
09E62176-000003ab has properties that cannot be copied to the new location."
The choices are yes, skip or cancel - and there are about 2000 other similar
files.
These are emails which I expect were those rescued from another PC whch had
Outlook Express on WinXP when it crashed.

What will be the effect of non-copied properties? Is any other method
available of backing up these email messages?

I imagine the lost properties refer to ownership information.
Windows is not able to maintain the user rights when files are copied
to external media.
