Cannot copy CD's

I

inez

WindowsXP,SP2,I.E.,OE. I have some old data files that I would like to copy
to inkjet printable CD-R's. I can copy the data using Sonic's format but
when I try to burn the CD, it keeps telling me to insert a blank CD. I
thought the whole box of CD's were corrupt so I bought a new box but I still
get the same message. But...when I try to burn the data to a Not printable
CD-R, it works and will burn the CD. What is going on? Why does the data
not burn to a printable CD-R but will burn to a Non-printable CD-R? If I am
in the wrong group, please send me the URL of the proper group to ask.

1. The printable CD-R brand may not be compatable with your CD Drive.
(The Drive may be an older model, or about to quit.)
There may be an issue with the drives detection scheme that is fooled by the
printable surface or the CD blank, or the drive is just picky about blanks.
