"Cannot access read-only document"

We are receiving the error message: "Cannot access read-only documen
{filename}" when trying to access a document on a SERVER. All of th
posts we have read keep saying "never open a file directly from
floppy"; however, we are NOT trying to open from a floppy, but from
pretty well established server. Can anyone help?

Access the file using *Windows* Explorer.
Right click on it and choose "Properties", and *uncheck* "Read Only".
