Cannot access network shares on 2000 server

I have a 2000 server that I cannot access the network shares on. The
server communicates with the network and I can map shares to other
servers from it. I have tried resetting the security on this device. I
can ping the server both by name and IP address so DNS is not the
issue. Anyone have an idea what could be happening?

net use command may give you more information. if it is system error 5, this is permission issue.

System error 64 "Netowrk name no longer available.
I just tried changing the network card. It almost acts like a firewall
is installed; but there is not.

Is the IP address of the DNS and WINS server in the Network Properties correct?

Yes. All TCP/IP settings are correct. Something in the OS seems to be
malfunctioning but I am seeing no errors in the event viewer that give
me a clue.

It appears that the security rollup package was causing the issue. I
removed the security rollup package and rebooted the server and the
problem has ceased. I made a change last week that I had thought solved
the issue and it came back so I will monitor the issue and post if it
comes back.
