Cannon i455

My one year old Cannon i455 prints black text with streaks missing through
the text. This occurred after using my first non-Cannon Ink cartridge. I
removed that one and installed a Canon cartridge but it didn't help.
On another forum I saw a reference to soaking your print heads in something
called "meths (purple variety)"
but have no idea what it is . Could anyone give me a clue. I like this
printer very much and would like to fix it if possible.

Soak printhead in glass of hot destilled water. I did it for my i455 many
times, always was sucessfull.

Do not soak all printhead, 5-10 mm for 2 minutes will be enough.

Also, I dont think so that reason of your problem is using of non-Canon
ink. Its probably coincidence.

"Meths" is Methylated Spirits or Methyl Alcohol, in it's natural state it is
clear.
The purple colour is an additive that is used to attempt to make the alcohol
unfit to drink since it is a serious poison.
Whether the additive is bad for printheads I am not sure but I would recommend
Isopropyl alcohol because this has no additives.
There are other liquids and techniques that may help, ask the folk at
http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/index.php for their advice.
I assume you have run 2 or 3 head cleaning cycles.
You say it is a year old, is it just in or just out of warranty? If just in
then the head should be covered under warranty.

Thank you for the good info. The printer is a little more than a year old
and out of warranty. I will decide on a solution and try soaking the heads.
I will then post back here with my results. Thanks again.

GOOD FOR YOU. YOU GOT WHAT YOU DESERVED
I
removed that one and installed a Canon cartridge but it didn't help.
YOU CLOGGED THE PRINTHEAD

IT IS AGAINST THE LAW--DRUGS WILL NOT HELP

THEN YOU SHOULD HAVE USED CANON INK
