broadband router

Jack Simmons

Newbie here. I am having some problems with my broadband connection.
Sometimes in the middle of an internet session I can no longer access any
web pages. I have a US Robotics Broadband Router between my cable modem and
my computer. Only one computer connected. I think it is set up right. It
shows up as a networked UPnP device in "my network places" and as an DHCP
Internet Gateway device. When I right click the icon for the router and view
properties I am given the option to "Invoke" it. What does that mean. Would
that help. If I power it down and back up that works for a while. Running
Windows XP SP2.
Thanks.

Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.

Hi

You did not indicate the Model of your Router.

Almost all Entry Level Router have an Http interface.

As an Example, many USR Router use http://192.168.123.254 and no password.

So start your browser type at the address http://192.168.123.254 (or waht
ever the manual says that your address is) get to the menus and configure
the Router for your type of Internet connection.

For Cable Internet , http://www.ezlan.net/broadband.html

For DSL , http://www.ezlan.net/PPPOE.html

When you done configuring optimize the Connetion,
