Only free alternative for Pinnacle Studio, as far as I know, is Windows Movie maker.

And that ain't really free, is it? And has nowhere near as many functions, either.

I wrote an article on this for PC Extreme, I totalled up all the cost of the packages that I could find free and open-source replacements for and it came to over £11,000. The list was getting on 100 items long, but i've since misplaced it.

Talking of audio editing programs, I can't recall the name of the one professional musicians use, I done a Google but couldn't find it at all.

I know it's expensive, but very good, used in recording studios everywhere.
