Can you change your email address in a sent message?

I have a "delivery only" email address that can receive emails. I would like
to change my normal email "from" line so that it looks like it comes from
that "delivery only" address so there is no confusion. I understand that I
can type in the REPLY TO email under tools so that if someone replies to an
email that I have sent it automatically comes up with the "delivery only"
address. But, in the original email I would have sent, it still says the
normal email account. I have tried to type the other address in the DISPLAY
name field, but then I get the "delivery only" email address followed by the
other email address in <brackets>.

So, why not change the basic email address for the account to be
your delivery address?

Because if it is a delivery only address, it cannot send.

I can see initially why Gary was confused; this took me a while to ask the
question correctly. Milly is correct though - this is a delivery only
account. It is a "life-long" email address so that those of us that move a
lot can keep an email address affiliated with an organization forever. All
you have to do is change to what ending address it is forwarded. The delivery
works well; I am just trying to remove all indications of the temporary
address. Yes, over the short term it does no matter. But after a few short
term moves, the address that is being sent from will keep changing and will
be disconnected when a move occurs.

Addresses don't send, mail servers do that. Unless you happen to be
using a very restrictive SMTP server, most don't care what the 'From'
address is.

See Dean's response above. I understand what you are saying but that is
not what Dean is talking about.
