Can Win2K server DHCP client *not* be running?

Is it possible that the DHCP client crash or otherwise stop running on
Win2K server?

How can I check this?

Yes, anything can crash.

Check: ControlPanels->Services->DHCP Client

Also, it is important to note that just because a server has a
statically assigned IP address, that does not mean you can diable the
DHCP client. The DHCP client service is used by the server to perform
dynamic DNS registrations with the DNS Servers. The DHCP Client *must*
be set to Automatic and it *must* be running at all times.
