static IPs and the DHCP client service

If we have static IP addresses on our Win2k Pro boxes but
want to use DDNS, I understand that the DHCP client
service needs to be running. My question is, with that
service running, will the box go out and try to find a
DHCP server and add unneccesary network traffic?
Thanks.

If the client is configured with a static IP address it will not try to find
a DHCP server.

The DHCP client service is responsible for DDNS registration whether the
machine uses DHCP or not. Also the DHCP client service is required for DNS
resolution, the DHCP client service should never be disabled if DNS
resolution is needed.
