Can the account still receive email if we disable it?

Hi all,

I am wondering whether we can disable an user account in
the Active
directory, if we still want to receive emails from that
account.

What happen is we have a sales person who lefts us
recently, his client
might be still sending him email, and at the moment all of
his mail is
forwarded to another other email account. If we disable
his account, will it
stops people sending email to him and stop the forwarding?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers

No, people can send email to any account, whether it is
valid or not. (e-mail address removed) is a valid email
format and it will send. Yes you need to keep an account
active with his email address to get mail. You could just
create an account on the managers computer for former
employees email. All you need is the account name and
password.

You need to go to your ISP (or LAN administrator) and have
them route [fwd] his email to an active account, then you
can delete the old account, but be sure you get any and all
files you might need downloaded and saved elsewhere.
